19-20 SEPTEMBER 2019 Irkutsk

Forum motto:

«Clean water is the key to sustainable development»

Greeting from the Governor of the Irkutsk Region

Dear friends!

On behalf of the organizers of the Third Baikal International Ecological Water Forum - the Government of the Irkutsk Region and on my own behalf, I am pleased to announce the start of active preparations for the event, which will again unite representatives from various countries of the world and regions of Russia.

The motto of the Third Forum was determined at the closing plenary meeting of the Second Forum. Participants supported our initiative and endorsed the proposed motto: “Clean water is the key to sustainable development”. We have to fill this concept with deep content and real tasks aimed at finding effective solutions, technologies and projects for the conservation of Lake Baikal - a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I want to emphasize that this year we will discuss the key topics of the Forum through the prism of the national project “Ecology” - one of the national projects in 12 areas of strategic development established by Decree of the President of Russia No. 204 of May 7, 2018 “On National Goals and Strategic Objectives development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024 ".

A number of discussions will be held at the Forum’s venues, they are devoted to important topics identified within the framework of such federal projects as “Preservation of Lake Baikal”, “Comprehensive System for Management of Solid Municipal Waste”, “Clean Water”, “Conservation of Biological Diversity and Development of Ecological tourism. "

Increased attention will be paid to the activities that will be held in the framework of our main project - “ECO-Generation” (Ecology. Culture. Education). As the experience of the two previous forums has shown, teaching the younger generation the responsibility to nature is an extremely crucial topic and designed for not just one year, but many.

By tradition, in the closing of the Forum will be held the awarding of the winners of the technological competition, in which domestic and foreign leading companies will take part, offering the best technological solutions for use in Lake Baikal and the Baikal natural territory.

I am convinced that the wide representation of the Third Baikal International Ecological Water Forum, a rich working agenda, the relevance of the activities of the participants will bring consolidation of the efforts of the authorities, business and public organizations in preserving one of the main freshwater source of the planet.

See you on the Baikal land in September 2019!
