Within the framework of the Year of Ecology and the Year of Specially Protected Natural Territories, announced in 2017, at the initiative of the Governor of the Irkutsk Region SG. Levchenko on September 14-15, 2017 in Irkutsk the international Baikal ecological water forum (hereinafter- the Forum) will take place.
The Forum is an effective communicative platform for dialogue between representatives of the government, business and society in the field of solving ecological problems of water resources of Lake Baikal, a unique site included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.
The business program of the Forum includes plenary sessions, thematic sections, panel discussions, presentations, negotiations and a competitive program.
Within the exhibition part of the Forum new innovative technologies and equipment for water purification, construction of treatment facilities, preservation of eco-and bio-systems of Lake Baikal will be presented, and a contest of the best technologies for water treatment "The World Standard of Wastewater Treatment - Water Baikal" will be held.
Organizers of the Forum are the Government of the Irkutsk Region, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Irkutsk Region with the participation of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The participants of the Forum include representatives of federal and regional executive organs of the Russian Federation; The Duma Committee on Natural Resources, Property and Land Relations of the State Duma of the Russian Federation; the Committee of the Federation Council for Agricultural and Food Policy and Nature Management; The Eurasian Economic Commission; Mayors of cities with water resources (Croatia, Mongolia, Japan, France, Finland, Switzerland) and of the Eurasian Economic Community; foreign and Russian companies – leaders in the development and production of equipment, construction of treatment facilities and other hydro-technical installations.
The Governor of the Irkutsk region Sergey Levchenko initiated the Working Groupmeeting on the organization and conduction of the Baikal International EcologicalWater Forum. The Forum takes place in Irkutsk on the 14-15th of September.
